Antwerp – The World Health Organization, using an international panel of experts, will develop for the first time a “Manual for epidemiological surveillance, monitoring and evaluation of leishmaniasis”. Among the specialists who will contribute to the drafting of the document, there is the Italian Institute of Health (Istituto Superiore di Sanità – ISS). The experts will come together for two days (22-23 October) at the Belgian Institute of Tropical Medicine, in Antwerp, to write the final draft of a document which will form the guideline for Public Health Operators in 98 countries where the disease is endemic, but also in those countries that are threatened by the spread of leishmaniasis because of climate change.
