October 15th, 2015 – The music and cuisine of Emilia-Romagna fly to Tirana, with “Opera cuisine – Music and Food from Emilia-Romagna”, an illustrated talk by Margherita Spinazzola that will take place this afternoon at 6pm at the Italian Institute of Culture (Mother Teresa Hall). Inspired by the book “Opera cuisine” by architect, passionate gastronome and blogger Giancarlo Fre, who died before seeing his work in print, the conference – organized by the Institute in collaboration with the Region – will trace a path between two particularly important traditions for Emilia-Romagna: music and gastronomy, in which are interwoven the biographical and professional careers of musicians, composers and performers, their favorite recipes, their passion for a land full of flavors and fragrances. The talk becomes a journey in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, capturing the spirit of people like Girolamo Frescobaldi and Arcangelo Corelli; the nineteenth century and the golden age of opera, starring Giuseppe Verdi, Giachino Rossini, Pietro Mascagni and Arturo Toscanini; and the twentieth century, with two great artists of international fame, Luciano Pavarotti and Maria Callas.
