October 15th, 2015 – Italferr, the engineering company of the Italian State Railways Group, will design the 1,000 km railway network that will connect, in Africa, the Ivory Coast to Mali. The memorandum of understanding signed by Italferr with the State of Côte d’Ivoire provides for the development of the rail corridor that will connect San-Pédro, on the Atlantic, to the populous capital of Mali, Bamako, on the Niger River. The agreement was signed in the most important city in Ivory Coast, Abidjan, by Italferr CEO, Matteo Triglia, the Ivorian Minister of Transport Gaoussou Toure and the Italian ambassador, Alfonso di Riso. Italferr will develop the feasibility study, the preliminary draft of the line, the connection to the port and to the mining areas and will accompany the African country in the further stages of project implementation and the subsequent grant. With this new contract, the engineering company strengthens its presence in Africa, where it is already operating with offices in Egypt, Algeria, Ethiopia and Congo – Brazzaville. (Red)
