October 16th, 2015 – The five Egyptian sarcophagi preserved in the Cinquantenaire Museum of Brussels are ready to return to their former glory, all thanks to an Italian invention. The royal family of Belgium, which owns the entire exhibition, has chosen for the restoration and cleaning operations of these precious artifacts to use the Thunder Art laser by Quanta System, a company of the Florentine El.En Group. This is a last generation, high accuracy and selectivity laser capable to intervene on delicate surfaces as well as very complex and stratified original coatings. The team of experts, which will be headed by Professor Teodoro Auricchio, director of the European Institute of Restoration based in the Aragonese Castle of Ischia, will soon be working to restore life to the sarcophagi of the XXI Egyptian Dynasty, unearthed in 1891 near Luxor in Egypt, and now kept in the Musées Royaux d’Art et d’Histoire of Brussels.
