October 19th, 2015 – For the 60th anniversary of the signing of the Bilateral Treaty between Italy and Germany for the recruitment and placement of Italian workers in the Federal Republic of Germany, the Italian Cultural Institute in Stuttgart has decided to tell the Italian story from another angle: using music. The Institute will present (in German and Italian) the book by Eugenio Marino “Andarsene Sognando,” which tells the history of Italian emigration through the song (looking at the ironic lyrics of Carosone, De Gregori’s political commitment, De André, Guccini, Caparezza, Rino Gaetano, Dalla, Fossati…). Marino – National Head of the Democratic Party abroad – will take part in the event, scheduled at the headquarters of the Institute (Kolbstr. 6, Stuttgart) for October 24 (at 7pm). The book is a real excursus in the history of Italian songs and emigration, and is being presented during the 15th edition of the Week of Italian Language in the World (whose theme for this year is “Italian music, and the music of Italian,” a recurring motif that will tie under a common thread the hundreds of events taking place in the different continents). Marino – tracking the fundamental turning points as well as the main historical and musical players – depicts an original, deep and vivid profile of Italians abroad, both those in the past and those in the present. The meeting in Stuttgart is promoted by the Italian Institute of Culture, the Consulate General of Italy in Stuttgart, and ACLI-Verband Baden-Wurttemberg. The evening will end with a concert to perform the most beautiful songs on emigration. (Gil)
