October 23rd, 2015 – “There are places you visit once, and then there’s Naples,” said John Turturro, American actor, director and screenwriter, who has dedicated to Naples a new film: “Passione.” “Passione” is a documentary about music released in 2010. Presented at the 67th International Film Festival of Venice, the movie is a real journey into the world of Neapolitan song performed by some of its greatest singers and musicians: James Senese, Massimo Ranieri, Lina Sastri, Peppe Servillo, Peppe Barra, Pietra Montecorvino, Raiz. The film collects anecdotes, interviews, videos and images of classic songs (there are many “fragments” related to historical interpreters of Neapolitan song such as Sergio Bruni and Enrico Caruso) and paints a very clear picture of Naples, a city of “painted sounds” and “where music is an essential element.” “Passion” is now preparing to charm and conquer the audience of the Italian Cultural Institute of Sao Paulo. The screening of the documentary film directed by Turturro is scheduled for Oct. 27. “Passione” won the 2010 Capri Cult Movie Award for the exhibition “Capri, Hollywood Festival”, the Festival of Salerno and the City of Loano prize. Given the success of the film and its songs, in the summer of 2011, there was also a national musical tour. (Gil)
