October 30th, 2015 – Photophraphs are a special memory “card”, a popular and cheap way to make a statement, send a reminder. Today, photophraphs are also a way to describe a city. “Little Naples in Marseille in images” is an exhibition of postcards that the Italian Cultural Institute of Marseilles has collected and will put on display Nov. 5-15. The places, monuments and landscapes “enclosed” in these old postcards are both fascinating and valuable. The exhibition – as reported by the IIC – was organized by the Club Cartofilo: putting on display more than 100 enlarged postcards depicting the old quarters of Marseille called “Little Naples” (which was blown up with dynamite in 1943). The inauguration of the exhibition, scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 5, will see the participation of Albert Leibovitch, president of the Club Cartofilo Marseille. (Gil)
