November 9th, 2015 – Dante Alighieri takes the stage once again in Japan. The Umberto Agnelli Auditorium of the Italian Cultural Institute in Tokyo hosts on Wednesday, November 11 (at 6.30pm) a conference by Iwakura Tomotada, professor emeritus of Kyoto University. Promoted by the Institute, the meeting aims to shed light on Dante’s presence in Japan. On this basis – describes a note by the Institute of Culture – the scholar will explain how and through which language and ideological choices, since the mid-19th century and throughout the course of the 20th century, the works of Dante were translated, contributing to his peculiar reputation of “heroic” poet.
