Tindouf – The Italian Cooperation has approved an emergency multilateral contribution worth €500,000 to UNICEF for interventions aimed at Sahrawis minors in Tindouf, Algeria. In particular, the contribution is dedicated to education and health activities under the project “Supporting the Saharawi refugee children in a moment of emergency.” The activities included in the project are the result of UNICEF’s revision of the action plan, aimed at improving the quality of education and the level of vaccination among Saharawi children, and at kicking off repair works to amend the damages caused by the floods last October. Thanks to the Italian contribution, the education system in refugee camps will be strengthened through training courses for school inspectors, pedagogical courses for teachers and improvements in the areas of strategic planning, monitoring and data collection by the authorities.
