Bamako – The Italian Cooperation has allocated an emergency grant worth €725,000 for the implementation of activities in the education sector in the northern regions of Mali. The Italian contribution aims to support the United Nations Fund for Children’s Rights (UNICEF) in its activities for the “Emergency program to support the education sector in Mali in the regions of Kidal, Gao and Timbuktu.” Thanks to the funding, approximately 36,000 children between 7 and 18 will be able to access education in a safe environment in at least 50 communities located in northern Mali, because the intervention will train approximately 600 teachers and strengthen community protection, through the training of community members, the promotion of a culture of dialogue on the protection of minors and the establishment of child-friendly spaces.
