December 8th, 2015 – Good news for the Italian publishing industry: nearly one out of ten titles published today in Italy has a foreign market. This emerges from research on the import / export of the rights by the research department of the Italian Publishers Association (AIE) on 1,200 publishers, on behalf of the Italian Trade Agency. Results were presented yesterday during Più libri più libero, the small and medium publishing national fair that comes to an end today in Rome. The research snapped a photograph of the Italian publishing industry and its ability to imposed itself (or not) in foreign markets, via the purchase and sale of rights. The research comes 8 years after the last (carried out in 2007), and looks at data on sales / purchase of rights for 2015 and 2014 for Fiction, Children, Non-Fiction, and Illustrated Books. The analysis shows that Italy continues to buy rather than selling, but sales tripled compared to 2001, and today 9.5% of new books is sold abroad (compared to 3.2% in 2001). (Red)
