December 9th, 2015 – “The dog is a gentleman,” once wrote the great American writer Marc Twain. And the dog is indeed a gentleman who, if properly trained, can also save lives in dramatic situations. And one organization (the Scuola provinciale cani da ricerca e catastrofe onlus) strongly believes this, training dogs to deal with disaster situations. In recent days, the organization took part in the Mission Readiness Test selection in Vienna (MRT is a special body of the IRO, the largest global organization with rescue dogs involved in international disasters, earthquakes, floods and tsunamis). Alessandro Dalvit passed the selection and has joined the MRT, with “Maverick” as the Canine Unit rescue on rubble. Last year, he had received the same MRT certification with another dog “Muttley”. These results give great satisfaction to the Trento School for dogs, which continues its growth in terms of training and professionalism in the preparation of their dogs. The two instructors, Alessandro Dalvit with “Maverick” and Gabriele Castaman with “Dalca” took part in the selection after having reached the maximum qualification as Canine Unit on rubble with practical and theoretical tests, demonstrating their knowledge of international INSARAG signals, Urban Search And Rescue techniques, human and veterinary first aid, orientation and survival.
