Toronto – Finmeccanica will provide new radars in all major Canadian airports to ensure air traffic safety. The Finmeccanica Security and Information Systems division (which in the restructuring of the Group absorbed, as of 1 January 2016, part of Selex ES’ activities) signed a major contract with Nav Canada to modernize air traffic control in 12 major Canadian airports, including Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver and Calgary. The update works will be completed by 2027. This is the most significant ATC project acquired, second only to the 4-Flight program for the new national air traffic control system, currently under development. The agreement includes options for subsequent revisions and possible replacement of additional apparatuses. Finmeccanica won the contract in a public international tender that saw the participation of several important competitors. Decisive factors in the winning proposal were the high level of technologies used, in terms of quality, operational performance and reliability, and support solutions for the equipment’s life cycle.
