(5 February 2016) The launch of the book “In other words” sees its author, Jhumpa Lahiri, talk at the Italian Cultural Institute in New York on February 16 at 6pm. This is the first in a series of meetings with American authors hosted at the Institute centered around the authors and their links with Italy. In Lahiri’s case, an American writer of Indian origin, the link is the Italian language. For some time now, she lives in Rome to learn and perfect her Italian. Lahiri decided to narrate in a book her relationship with this sweet language, a book that is now being printed in English with parallel text translation by Ann Goldstein. The event in New York includes a conversation among the author, the Director of the Institute Giorgio van Straten, and the translator Goldstein. The series of meetings will continue with André Aciman in March, David Leavittin in April, and Rachel Kushner in May. (PO / SIP)
