(15 February 2016) The Sanremo Festival 2016 – which just ended with record ratings – was followed and appreciated all over the world, as the Festival was broadcast in Serbia, Romania, Albania, Bulgaria, Russia and in countries with large Italian communities (United States, Canada, Australia and South America). This year, it was a brilliant edition for the international screenings, and the numbers prove it: it was the most-followed Festival in the past 11 years. It triumphed on TV (11.223 million viewers followed the final on Saturday, while previous evenings exceeded 10 million viewers) and on social media (over 2 and a half million interactions on Twitter, the most-watched ever with a 43% increase compared to 2015). The success of the 66th edition of Sanremo is certified also by the attention received by international radio stations. This year, Radio Rai accredited representatives from 22 radio stations (both EBU and non-EBU) from 14 countries. In addition to coordination activities in the Press Room, Radio Rai offered EBU radio the use of the recording studios: in this case, technical assistance was guaranteed for Radio France (Paris), Swiss Radio and Television, HRT – Croatian Radio, RTVSLO – Radio Koper for the realization of editing, recordings, live and delayed broadcasts with their respective locations. EBU circuit radios also had access on the mutual sharing platform to the audio of the festival for deferred broadcasting. (Gil)
