(17 February 2016) The UBI Banca Group has been granted a permit by the Central Bank of Morocco and the CFC status released from the CFC Commission that allows it to open a representative office in Casablanca within the Casablanca Finance City (CFC). The latter is a platform created by the Moroccan authorities in 2010 with the intent to promote the role of Casablanca as a major financial center in the region, able to attract African and international companies who choose the city as a base for the development of their activities in North, West and Central Africa. The Head of the structure will be Abdelkrim Sbihi, 43, formerly CFO of a major group active in the commercial retail sector in Morocco. Abdelkrim Sbihi previously gained many experiences in Morocco, Europe and the United States and worked at Credit Agricole Morocco and at Attijariwafa Bank, holding various positions including those of Director of the Exchange Room, Corporate Trader and Correspondent Banking Officer. The initiative is part of a wider UBI Banca strategy to bolster the services needed to support the productive and commercial expansion of Italian companies abroad. Our presence in the most active areas of the country allowed us to observe how foreign demand can support the growth of Italian companies,” explained Sergio Passoni, head of the Group’s international activities. “This led us to develop a network of professionals, structures and competencies that can today support the most dynamic companies in their internationalization projects.” (Red)
