Brussels – Man and large carnivores can coexist in the Alps, if we are able to find the right balance: this sums up the message brought by Trentino to an international conference held in Brussels, and organized by the Representation of the Free State of Bavaria to the European Union and MEPs Herbert Dorfmann and Ulrike Mueller. The seminar focused on the effects on Mountain Farming of the return of wolves and bears. The representatives of interest groups from Bavaria, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and France compared their points of view in front of government representatives for the management of large carnivores at the Community level (the Agriculture Directorate of the EU), at the national level (with German Environment Ministry), and regionally.
