Singapore – During the air show in Singapore, Finmeccanica announced the order of two AgustaWestland AW189 helicopters by the Malaysian company TPG Aeronautik Sdb Bhd, employed by the Malaysia Fire Department (Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia – JBMP). The aircrafts, whose delivery is scheduled for 2017, will be used for firefighting, for search and rescue operations, and civil protection. The JBMP chose the AW189 as its fleet already includes two AgustaWestland AW139. The new order will enable JBMP to expand its mission capability and benefit from the unique advantages offered by next-generation AgustaWestland products, the AW169, AW139 and AW189. These different models share the same operational approach, training and maintenance support, thereby ensuring flexibility and efficiency levels. Finmeccanica further strengthens its presence in Malaysia with the delivery of two AW139 to Galaxy Aviation, and in the Philippines, with the delivery of two additional helicopters used for passenger transport.
