Shanghai – Fincantieri and Huarun Dadong Dockyard (HRDD), one of the major Chinese shipyards specialized in repair and refitting, signed in Shanghai an exclusive cooperation agreement in the field of ship repair and conversion aimed at serving cruise ships based in China. The agreement includes the development of technical skills, project management, and logistics procedures. In particular, Fincantieri, through its dedicated business unit Ship Repair and Conversion, will provide technical expertise. This, combined with HRDD’s cutting-edge infrastructure, will provide the fundamental support to the nascent Chinese cruise industry and major foreign cruise operators that will operate in the local market. HRDD is a leader in ship repairs and conversions, with modern facilities strategically located close to the Shanghai cruise terminal. The yard, which uses five basins, boasts considerable experience on a wide range of unit types and a wealth of expertise that makes it particularly well suited to the cruise industry. Fincantieri initiated an internationalization and rooting strategy in this market with the agreements dating as far back as 2014, and subsequently established a subsidiary based in Shanghai: Fincantieri (Shanghai) Trading Co. Ltd. (9Colonne)
