(8 March 2016) Valletta turns the spotlight on the European project “Performigrations: People Are the Territory”. Between lively debates and music, on Thursday, 10 March (at 18.30), the Hall of the Italian Cultural Institute of the Maltese capital opens its doors to a meeting in Italian and English featuring an acoustic preview of the Dominic Mancuso Group’s concert, scheduled for the following Friday at 7pm. The group will perform at the Auditorium of the University of Malta Junior College. The concert is organized by the Italian Cultural Institute and the University of Malta Junior College, with the University of Bologna, under the European Creative Europe program. “Relocation may involve the adoption of new roles and transformations in identity played out across borders and spaces – reads the introductory note by the Institute – Focusing, in particular, on the movements of people across the E.U., and between the E.U. and Canada, PERFORMIGRATIONS reconsiders the ways that we draw geographic borders by placing storytelling, creative acts, and cultural heritage at the locus of place-making. Performance, art, and mobile media technologies offer exciting new ways to explore and express the various instances of belonging and alienation that frame migration narratives.” (Red)
