Dusseldorf – It’s an appreciation that knows no crisis, the one between Germany and Lugana DOC. The success of the Italian wine with its northern neighbors cannot be explained as a temporary fashion, but rather a sign of a trend that is here to stay. A mind-boggling amount of Lugana was exported in 2015 (75% of total production), and Germany is the first destination market, absorbing 40% of total exports. And so the decision of the Lugana Consortium to attend one of the world’s major wine fairs was Inevitable. Prowein takes place these days (March 13-15) in Düsseldorf, offering a great opportunity to the Consortium to consolidate its presence in Germany. Lugana DOC is made from Turbiana, a native grape that, when processed in single-variety, is able to express itself with versatility in both white and bubbly versions. Today, there are 5 types of Lugana DOC: base, top, spumante, the late harvest and reserves. (9Colonne)
