(15 March 2016) The “Lady with an Ermine” and “Mona Lisa” are two of the most famous and mysterious female portraits in art history. But there are other mysterious women painted by Leonardo Da Vinci. Of his five surviving portraits, four are of women. And these are “Leonardo’s Women,” the stars of the conference that Plinio Innocenzi, Professor of Science and Materials Technology at the University of Sassari and since 2010 Scientific Attaché at the Embassy of Italy in Beijing, will hold on Thursday 17 March. The conference will be in Italian with Chinese translation, taking place within the theater of the Italian Cultural Institute in Beijing at 6:30pm. Leonardo da Vinci is rarely associated with the feminine world, yet his portraits of women are among the most beautiful ever made. Not only the famous Mona Lisa, but a gallery of characters immortalized forever by the unique ability of Leonardo to fix on canvas the mysterious ultimate feminine nature of the universe. (Red)
