(22 March 2016) The mission of the Italian Regions delegation, led by the President of Sardinia Francesco Pigliaru, came to an end today in Tunis. The aim was to identify the best means by which the regional system can help support the democratic process and economic development of the Arab country. With the support of the Italian ambassador in Tunis Raimondo De Cardona, a series of meetings were set up with the highest levels of government, starting with the Minister of Development, Investment and International Cooperation M. Yassine Brahim. On the same occasion, the second generation of the European Programme IEV CT Med. 2014-2020 was presented and the Tunisian managers assessed the implemented programs under the first-generation CT IEV 2007-2013. “Young people represent the future, and their education is a priority for us all. And this is true for a country like Tunisia, engaged in the very important democratic process which we follow with great enthusiasm,” said President Pigliaru at the meeting with the Minister of Education Neji Jalloul. The Tunisian minister called for the resumption of the cooperation levels that existed in the 1970s, declaring potential for growth in many areas, particularly in terms of cultural relations. (Red)
