14 April 2016. “Vorrìa Madonna”, a show by vocal and instrumental ensemble Ballanzè, is in Paraguay. The show mixes baroque and contemporary popular music, and has a dual purpose: sharing Italy’s musical past, as well as the musical present that past has influenced—and promoting Paraguay and the Jesuit Route, one of Latin America’s most fascinating. Baroque music was an important part of the Jesuit missions in the region. Paraguay’s Secretaría Nacional de Turismo (Senatur) and the Embassy of Italy in Asuncion are among the event’s promoters. The first show will take place Friday 15 April at 8:30PM in Asuncion’s Ignacio A. Pane municipal theatre. The second will take place at the Awa Resort Hotel in Encarnacion, Saturday 16 April at 8:30PM. Both shows are open and free of charge. The pieces will be performed by artists Nando Citarella, Gabriella Aiello, Valeria Tarsetti and Mauro Palmas. (Red)
