Tripoli – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) welcomed the Italian contribution of one million euro. It will be used to provide food assistance, which is in dire need, to vulnerable people affected by the ongoing conflict in Libya. “WFP is very grateful to the Italian government for its commitment to support the affected families and the community in Libya,” it was declared by Carlo Scaramella, WFP’s deputy director for the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe. The contribution will enable WFP to provide food rations to more than 80,000 people in Libya for a month. Each ration can feed a family composed by five people for a month, and it includes basic food items such as rice, pasta, chickpeas, wheat flour, vegetable oil, tomato paste and sugar. (9Colonne)
