Baku. “We present today in Baku three proposals by Italy to renew and reinvigorate dialogue between cultures and to promote more fluidity between peoples. Mutual knowledge is the basis of tolerance and respect that are the foundation and democracy and civilisation. Italy has a natural vocation for intercultural dialogue favoured by its geopolitical position that has made it a cultural crossroads in the Mediterranean for centuries”. Dorina Bianchi, undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Heritage, responsible for tourism, is presenting at the second day of the 7th United Nations Global Forum “Alliance of Civilisations” (UNAOC) taking place in Baku, Azerbaijan. She adds: “our three proposals concern: the ‘Tree of Life’ project, a film and a documentary that takes its cue from the mosaic of Otranto Cathedral depicting the three great monotheistic religions that represent three different ways of worshipping a common God; the exhibition ‘Bridge’, where contemporary art is a bridge between different cultures with works by artists such as Shirin Neshat, Ai Weiwei, William Kentridge and Michelangelo Pistoletto. Finally, the Peace Museum, whose first example is in Naples and today is presented for the first time in Baku, possessing and unprecedented multimedia system”.(9colonne)
