(23 May 2016) The World Humanitarian Summit (WHS) has started today in Istanbul : First UN World summit to address humanitarian issues,bringing together government representatives, the United Nations system, humanitarian agencies and civil society to discuss the present and future humanitarian crisis. An Italian delegation will be present at the summit, led by Deputy Foreign Minister, Mario Giro, accompanied by Laura Frigenti, director of the Italian Development Cooperation Agency. The objective of the summit (closing tomorrow) is to build a shared system that can respond more effectively to emergencies and to reduce the underlying causes of the crisis. At the Summit, Italy anticipated the support of the Italian Development Cooperation in the global guidelines and implementation of measures to raise awareness and to train operators along with data collection activities that are essential to plan objectives and actions that meet the real needs of persons with disabilities.
