(June 3, 2016) “A vertical forest” is the book with which Stefano Boeri recounts how one of architectural landmarks of Milan came to be, voted for two consecutive years the most beautiful and innovative skyscraper in the world. His was an experiment in introducing a new concept of biodiversity in architecture introduce that until now was totally alien. The project has crossed international borders and has been recognized internationally. His book, edited by Guido Musante and Azzurra Muzzonigro, and published by Corraini, will be in Istanbul presented by Boeri at the Italian Cultural Institute (June 7 to 19). The event will be coordinated by Moira Valeri from the University of Yeditepe (Istanbul). “It is not book on architecture – says Boeri – because the Vertical Forest is first of all an experiment in biodiversity and the interaction between men, trees and birds, a palimpsest of thoughts and images”. The book is divided into four parts: “Trees and humans” a section in which Boeri recounts the birth and development of the project; “Stories from the Vertical Forest” short stories illustrated by Zosia Dzierżawska; the “Dictionary of the Vertical Forest from 100 voices”, which ultimately collects the key concepts of the project. Last but not least, “Vertical Forest: Learning from I BV”, posing a model to permit the reproduction of similar projects elsewhere. (Red)
