Mumbai. The Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IICCI) organised an event titled “Business Aperitif”, held last Wednesday, June 8 in Mumbai at the Maritime by San Lorenzo, a certified Italian Hospitality Brand 2015-16 restaurant. The meeting, held in collaboration with Mahindra World City, discussed the need for “smart” urbanisation in India, and the opportunities in this area for Italian companies active in the construction and building industry. The ICCI’s interest in environmental sustainability and smart planning is a response to an urgent necessity: India has the largest number of megacities in the world, many of which are at the top of the charts for most polluted cities. In addition to this, a remarkable increase in the population is expected by 2050, rendering the necessity of technology and products to make Indian cities more sustainable from an environmental and human point of view all the more urgent.
