(June 16, 2016) The Italian national football team, playing in the Euro 2016 in France, joins the Stefano Borgonovo Foundation in the fight against ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). The autographed jerseys worn by the Azzurri during the first half of the friendly match with Germany, held in Munich on March 29 were donated by players to the Borgonovo Foundation and will be sold at a charity auction on Monday June 20 at 20:00 at the Italian Consulate in Paris. “When I heard that there would be a friendly match on March 29 in Munich between the Italy and Germany – says Chantal, wife of Stefano Borgonovo – I got the slightly crazy idea to ask the players of our national team for their authorgraphed and sweaty jerseys and autographed for an auction. I contacted the president Tavecchio, the closest person to the Foundation, capable of supporting me who then invited me to watch the match. I called the captain, Gigi Buffon and explained my idea. Frankly I was not sure it was something achievable and instead Gigi spoke with the team and I came back from Munich the next day with the jerseys in my suitcase. I want thank everyone who was involved once again. This is also what football is about. ” The jerseys auctioned belong to Buffon, Bonucci, Darmian, Acerbi, Giaccherini, Florenzi, Thiago Motta, Bernardeschi, Montolivo, Zaza and Insigne. The auction will be broadcasted live for online participation and interaction via the following link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/rnf7c3bmqyukubo/Registration_live%20auction.pdf?dl=0
