Shanghai – The Shanghai International Film Festival 2016, which began last June 11 with a great attention of the Chinese public for Italian film productions. As in previous years, the Italian selection is characterised by a distinct variety of choices, which this year have proposed a film in competition, one in the special SIFF Highlights section, two in the Spectrum section and five titles in the Special Focus Italy, showcase that the SIFF dedicates every year to contemporary Italian cinema. After a five year absence Italian cinema returns to be present in the competitive section with See you in Texas, Vito Palmieri’s first work, who will compete for the Golden Goblet Award. The Shanghai public will also have the occasion to engage with the directors of some of the greatest international successes of recent Italian cinema: They called me Jeeg Robot by Gabriele Mainetti, Alaska by Claudio Cupellini, God Willing Edoardo Falcone and Vincenzo Marra’s First Light.
