(July 5, 2016) Cinema between Rome and Africa: RomeAfrica Film Festival makes a comeback to ‘Casa del Cinema’ in Rome’s Villa Borghese from July 13 to 16. The festival will take place over four days thanks to the sponsorship of the ‘Italy-Africa’ initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, Lazio region, and Assafrica &Mediterraneo. The event under the artistic direction of Antonio Flamini, will preview recently produced or unreleased films in Italy thanks to the support of the Embassies of African countries, Festival Panafricain du Cinéma et de la Télévision de Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (Fespaco), Luxor African Film Festival Egypt (LAFF) in the presence of Director Azza Elhosseinydel and the African Film Festival of New York. The idea behind the realisation of the event found fertile ground in certain themes that in one way or another were linked with Africa and with the passion for cinema as the common denominator. Cinema is the ideal instrument to illustrate, beyond common preconceptions, the cultural variety and vitality of the African continent that is so close yet so far and that is still poorly understood by Italy. Cinema is the mirror through which we wish to capture change in Africa. It is a dynamic continent under complex pressures that nevertheless continues to evolve and that has enormous potential to enrich our own culture. (Red)
