(2016 July 18th) The fascinating location of Villa Argentina park in Mendrisio – Ticino, and the prestige of the Guardia di Finanza Band were the main ingredients of the event in which the Band performed as part of a popular Cantonal party, also organized with the support of the Italian Embassy in Switzerland and the Guardia di Finanza headquarters in Rome. It was one of the rare performances of an Italian military band in Switzerland. The program included pieces from Italian Opera tradition, from Rossini to Verdi, but also drew on a more recent musical repertoire, from Bernstein to Ellington. The Italian and Swiss national anthems – played at the end of the performance as per tradition – sealed an evening full of emotions. (Red)
