Pyongyang – The news about a missile fired last night by North Korea that landed in the waters within the Exclusive Economic Zone of Japan increases the concerns expressed by the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs last June. These are acts that threaten international peace and security, openly violating the relevant Resolutions of the UN Security Council. The Farnesina reminds North Korea about complying with its international commitments. With these acts, the Pyongyang government continues to move away from resuming the discussions for the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula and jeopardizes the stability of the entire region. North Korea launched two ballistic missiles from the north-east coast towards the Sea of Japan: one exploded immediately, while the other fell into Japanese territorial waters, 250 km off its coast.
