(August 22, 2016) “I have known Jericho, I too have had had my Palestine, the walls of the home were the walls of Jericho…” are the verses extracted from the collection of peoms titled ‘The Holy Land’. The translation into Catalan (published by Editorial Arrela) will be presented Thursday September 8 at 19:00 at the Italian Cultural Institute of Barcelona, who strives to promote Italian culture in Catalonia. Catalan poet and professor Nora Albert and Professor Gabriella Gavagnin from the Universitat de Barcelona will participate in the book reading in both Italian and Catalan. ‘The Holy Land’ is a collection of poems written by Alda Merini and printed by Scheiwiller in 1984. The recurring theme in the collection is that of the mental institution, which Alda Merini metaphorically assimilates to the biblical Holy Land. (Red)
