(August 30, 2016) In the last six months, the situation in Afghanistan has gradually improved, although we must not lower our guard. This is the impression that General Salvatore Farina, Commander of NATO Joint Force Command Brunssum, got from his visit in country to verify the situation of the Resolute Support mission. Farina has been briefed by the Commander of the TAAC-W and the international staff on the operational status of the West region and its future operating lines and the results obtained in the training, advice and assistance activities in recent months in favor of the Afghan National Defence and Security Forces (ANDSF), and at the end of the visit he highlighted the good level of training reached by the Afghan Defence and Security Forces who have shown very good ability to conduct even complex operations on the filed. The latest example is just in these days with the neutralization of an attempted attack by the insurgents in the Kunduz area. General Farina also pointed out the need to intensify the work within the Resolute Support forces to consolidate the positive results obtained over the course of this year. One year, 2016, which saw the insurgents unable to achieve success thanks to the contrast work of the Afghan Security Forces. Other operational development lines concern the Afghan Air Force and the Police.
