(September 19, 2016) “Matter. Fragment. Shadow”. This is the title of the first exhibition in Russia of Pino Pinelli. Fans will set their eyes on nine cardinal works by the Sicilian artist, the most significant of the Art Analytical. From September 21 to October 23 the MAMM – Multimedia Art Museum in Moscow will host the exhibition of one of the greatest exponents of Italian after-war art. The exhibition curated by Olga Sviblova, director of MAMM, and Francesca Pini, sees Piero Mascitti as art director and is promoted by the Italian Institute of Culture in Moscow, in collaboration with the Pino Pinelli Archives and Claudio Poleschi Art galleries of Lucca and Milan Art Dep. “The exhibition – notes Olga Strada, Director of Moscow IIC – inaugurates the season of exhibitions that the Italian Institute of Culture intends to implement portray for the Muscovite public the years of fervent artistic experimentation that arose in Italy after the war.” Pino Pinelli was born in Catania in 1938, where he completed his art studies. In 1963 he moved to Milan, where he still lives and works, fascinated and attracted by the artistic debate of those years, led by figures such as Lucio Fontana, Piero Manzoni, Enrico Castellani. Beyond the “analytical painting” labels, the works of Pinelli are restless bodies of paint on their way into space, floating and migrant in small or large formations, made of materials that bear the marks of an anxious ductility, and that enhance the tactile physicality and visual happiness of a color pulsating of light vibrations. A catalog in three languages (Italian, English, Russian) by Silvana Editoriale, with texts of the curators, Marco Meneguzzo and an anthology criticism from the 70s to the present day will accompany the exhibition.
