(October 7th, 2016) An important voice that has conquered Europe. And beyond. Is the voice of Luca Salsi: baritone, born in 1975, native of San Secondo Parmense (Parma) distinguished in recent years particularly in the Verdi repertoire. His extensive career has seen him sing on some of the most important stages in the world, and now – after the recent successes such as Nabucco in Rome and as playing Briano in rare Otto Nicolai’s Templario at Salzburg Festival – Salsi returns to play leading role in Giuseppe Verdi’s Macbeth, starting tomorrow (Saturday, October 8th). The show, conducted by Giampaolo Bisanti, directed by Christof Loy, is staged at Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, where Salsi has already starred in other titles such as Verdi’s “La forza del destino” (2012/2013) and “Nabucco” (2015). “Macbeth – says Parmesan baritone – is a work full of charm, rich in colors and shades, indicated with precision by Verdi on a score with interpretive signs never seen before. A real challenge for the singer, who must know how to dose and modulate his voice making boomy,’crawled’ and sometimes even ‘stifled’ sounds. I had the opportunity to sing this role with Maestro Riccardo Muti in Chicago and Stockholm. He literally unveiled an unknown world that profoundly marked my interpretation.” After Macbeth in Barcelona, Luca Salsi will be Rigoletto at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma (December 2nd to 10th), than Macbeth again for the opening of the 2017 season at Teatro Massimo in Palermo in a new production signed by Emma Dante (from January 21st 2017), he will play Gérard in Andrea Chénier at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Monaco (from March 12th to April 2nd, 2017).
