Barcelona – After the recent successes such as Nabucco in Rome and as playing Briano in rare Otto Nicolai’s Templario at Salzburg Festival – Salsi returns to play leading role in Giuseppe Verdi’s Macbeth, starting tomorrow (Saturday, October 8th). The show, conducted by Giampaolo Bisanti, directed by Christof Loy, is staged at Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, where Salsi has already starred in other titles such as Verdi’s “La forza del destino” (2012/2013) and “Nabucco” (2015). “Macbeth – says Parmesan baritone – is a work full of charm, rich in colors and shades, indicated with precision by Verdi on a score with interpretive signs never seen before. A real challenge for the singer, who must know how to dose and modulate his voice making boomy,’crawled’ and sometimes even ‘stifled’ sounds. I had the opportunity to sing this role with Maestro Riccardo Muti in Chicago and Stockholm. He literally unveiled an unknown world that profoundly marked my interpretation.” (9Colonne)
