Port-au-Prince. The Italian Episcopal Conference has donated €1 million, with funds from 8xmille, to assist the hundreds of thousands of people left without a home and food after hurricane Matthew. This sum will be managed by the Italian Caritas stationed in Haiti since the 2010 earthquake. The funds will go towards water, food, and primary necessities. “I am with the population of Haiti in this moment and I would also like to express faith in the international community, Catholic institutions and good willed people” Pope Francis announced at the Angelus.
