(19 October, 2016) Venice hosts an event that is unprecedented in Europe and in the rest of the world: the first stop on a tour of a Chinese artist considered to be the pride of the country. The exhibition “The World of Han Meilin” will be inaugurated on Thursday October 27 at 18:00 at Ca’Foscare Esposizioni. It will be the first time Meilin is exhibited outside of China. He is the only Chinese artist honoured by UNESCO as “artist for peace”. According to Ambassador Vattani, curator of the exhibition along with Professor Zhao Li “he has received this recognition for a number of excellent reasons: for his capacity to educate young people about peace and solidarity; for teaching art at the University of Tsinghua; for his effort towards preserving nature and the environment. It must not be forgotten that the Chinese government has also dedicated three Museums to Meilin in Beijing, Hangzhou and Yinchuan”. (red)
