The Italian Cultural Institute of Sydney is promoting the Italian artist, Silvia Tuccimei this year, who has been selected for the second time for this international exhibition in Sydney. Tuccimei’s piece selected for this year’s edition is titled “Flower Power” and is composed of three sections measuring approximately 3 metres and weighing 800 kg, made of reflective stainless steel. Her work was made possible thanks to the patronage of Fabio Bini, entrepreneur and artistic director of OMCF in Florence- the leading company internationally,  in steel treatment. More than 20 workers took part in constructing the sculpture. “Technical ezpertise, sense of measure and knowledge of the classical canons are necessary to give life to Beauty, with a capital B” underlines Donatella Cannova, director of the ICI. “Tuccimei has all of these qualities and knowledge that she applies to her sculptures has a metronome that dictates the breath and time of her works, giving an order to their form but at the same time giving them freedom of movement at one’s touch and to atmospheric phenomenons to which her sculptures often react as if they were live and sentient beings”.
