Paris. The protection consortia for Asiago, Parmigiano Reggiano and Pecorino Romano have obtained the immediate confiscation by French authorities of a series of products that did not reflect the proper denomination of the three DOP cheeses that are instead protected and recognised by the European Union. This intervention occurred at SIAL, the International Nutrition Salon, held in recent days in Paris. The high request of the three consortia to the French authorities is based on article 3 of the Treaty of the European Union that sees the value of diversity and guarantees awareness to its protection and expresses its duty to protect “ex officio” DOP in all member states, assigning each country to activate the observance of the law and the adoption of adequate means of enforcement.
