(2 December, 2016) Hungary awards a prominent Italian member of society, Professor Vincenzo Sorrentino, from the department of molecular medicine and development of the University of Siena and director of UOC of molecular medicine and genetics of the Siena University Hospital. He received an honorary degree from the University of Debrecen, the biggest and oldest university in Hungary. Sorrentino received this recognition for studying and identifying certain genes involved in molecular and cellular mechanisms that regulate cellular and muscular activity and for the implications this research has in the understanding of certain genetic diseases.
