(8 December, 2016) The 2016 Christmas Concert organised by the Italian Cultural Institute of Valletta will be held on December 10 at 19.30 at the St Patrick’s Church in Sliema, Malta. “Ocim” the Italian chamber orchestra in Malta, will be the star of the concert. They were established last year to strengthen the bond between Italian and Maltese culture through the universal language of music. The Ensemble consists of Italian, Hungarian and Polish musicians and their repertoire is versatile, ranging from baroque to contemporary music. All the musicians are part of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra and already have to their credit considerable experience both as soloists and orchestra musicians, having played with the most important Italian and foreign orchestral institutions, such as the Orchestra of the Teatro alla Scala of Milan, the National Academy of Santa Cecilia in Rome, Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Orquestra de Extremadura in Spain, Arturo Toscanini Symphony Orchestra and the International Mahler Orchestra of Berlin. All members have graduated from the most prestigious European institutions. In Malta they are engaged in chamber music and took part in local festivals such as the Bir Miftuh International Music Festival, the Malta Arts Festival and the Victoria International Arts Festival in Gozo.
