(December 13th 2016) Solidarity is at the table in Sudan. Initiatives of supportive diplomacy announced by the Embassy during the “First Week of Italian Cuisine in the World” dont stop. The collaboration between Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development AICS and the Embassy of Italy in Khartoum, are moving forward with the project “Include me at the table.” The protagonists are four girls with disabilities from the female orphanage in Khartoum Dar Almustakbel who participated to Italian cooking lessons taught by chef Flavia Pantaleo. The courses were organized few weeks ago by the Embassy. Through the initiative of supportive diplomacy, and to give continuity, Embassy of Italy was accompanied AICS Khartoum, with the project “Promotion and protection of the rights of orphaned children with disabilities in the city ‘in Khartoum ” to promote social inclusion and equal access to goods and services for persons with disabilities, with special attention to orphan children. After the courses, the girls participated to a series of appointments at Italian House’s kitchen – Italian Ambassador’s residence – where they have learned the basics of the art of good food and experienced typical Italian recipes. The events ended with a dinner at the Italian House, where dishes are happily prepared by the girls. “”Include me at the table” is the result of the synergy between public actors, such as Embassy of Italy and AICS, and private world: integrated action with an institutional direction in the path of human and social development,” emphasized Italian Ambassador Fabrizio Lobasso. “The activities that have had an enthusiastic response by Sudanese institutions, – he added – are an important action of ‘System Italy’ for the social inclusion of persons with disabilities’. The hope – concluded Lobasso – is that other Embassies in Sudan can replicate the initiative. We already have excellent signals to that effect, solidarity is a wonderful contagious virus. ” (red)
