Lisbon. The inauguration of the “Festa Barocca” will be held on Thursday 19 January at 18:30 in the Sala D. João IV and the Ambassadors Salon of the Palacio Nacional da Ajuda in Lisbon. The exhibition is about Italian culture as an homage to Portugal. It displays the principal moments of Italian Renaissance festive court ceremonies and how they have developed even more spectacularly during the Baroque period. The concept of these festivities stemmed from Italy and then spread throughout Europe and the rest of the world. For example, with the arrival of the Portuguese in Brazil, various aspects of European festivals were transformed and are interpreted today as the great traditional Brazilian Carnival. (9colonne)
