(January 30, 2017) 1902: many Italians leave to seek their fortune in America. Giuseppe, twenty-one, the eldest son of a farming family Aspromonte, leaves everything he has and crosses the ocean, with a promise to return. Giuseppe is the protagonist of the book “La signora di Ellis Island” by Mimmo Gangemi. The writer will present his book on February 7 at the Italian Institute of Culture in Vienna. Mimmo Gangemi was born in 1950 in Santa Cristina d’Aspromonte. He is an engineer. He published “Il Giudice Meschino” (2009) and “La signora di Ellis Island” (2011) for Einaudi Stile libero. (Red)
