Brussels. Creating a network of European partners in support of technological and industrial sectors for the utilisation of materials in harsh temperatures, wear-and-tear, corrosion, load level, sectors such as transport, machinery, construction and energy. This is the objective of the EXTREME Project coordinated by ENEA which receives 65% funding from community funds and be developed over three years (www.network-extreme.eu). EXTREME includes eight other European partners from research institutes, universities and companies, and falls within the broader framework of activities for the KIC “EIT rawmaterials” for research on raw materials which sees ENEA as the centre of ‘Casaccia’ – Southern Europe’s main framework for development, demonstration of methods of sustainable technologies and innovative processes in the raw materials sector. The EXTREME network will also be the co-organising entity of the “Solutions for Critical Raw Materials Under Extreme Conditions” conference in the E-MRS Fall Meeting; a major European conference in the materials sector to be held September 18 – 21 at the University of Technology of Warsaw.
