London- The judges of the Sony World Photography Awards, one of the most prestigious photographic competitions in the world, have rewarded the work of Italian photographer Ylenia Viola for the image “Variatio 15 – The Guardians of a parallel universe” that has been mentioned among the 50 best for the category “Open – Enhanced”. As a “commended photographer” the image of Ylenia will be exhibited along with those of all the other winners, finalists and commended, during the exhibition Sony World Photography Awards & Martin Parr, to be held in London from April 21 to May 7. The winning image will also be promoted globally through the website of the Prize which this year saw competing more than 227 thousand images from 183 countries around the world. The photo of Ylenia Viola, originally from Volpiano and now residing in Turin, is a delicate balance between black and white, silence and music, dark and light, air and vacuum. (9colonne)
